Robert Barnwell Clarkson was born in Camden, S.C. He graduated from Sumter High in Sumter, S.C.  He then continued his education at Clemson University and graduated in 1969 with a major in Economics and a minor in History. He graduated in ROTC and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Infantry. He then served a. tour of duty in Vietnam with 25th Infantry Division.

When he completed his tour of service, he entered the University of South Carolina Law School and graduated in 1974. He is married to the former Fran E. Purcell and has one daughter, Caroline Elizabeth..

Presently Robert is a writer, organizer, and general trouble-maker. He resides at 515 Concord Ave., Anderson, S.C. The way Robert became involved in his present activities began in 1974 when he was attending law school by writing an article for Justice Times. He has been involved in this type of activity for years.

His political goals include abolishing the Federal Reserve, the Internal Revenue Service and defaulting on the National debt.

His present activities include publishing the Patriot Cannon, organizing the Patriot Network, speaking, and organizing local Patriot groups. He also writes books, articles and does tapes. The most correct description of Robert that he uses, is a trouble-maker and keeping his feet to the fire, so to speak.

The reason Robert is willing to speak out and fight for his beliefs stems from his deep feeling of Patriotism inherited from his family. History plays an important role in his life and his interests. He was named for Robert Woodward Barnwell, architect and writer of Confederate Constitution; he descended from Thomas Heyward, signer of the Declaration of Independence and Lemuel Benton, colonel in the Revolutionary War. Also, he took the oath of office to serve in the Army and to support and defend the U.S. Constitution. Further, he is an active Libertarian.

The organizations he is involved in forming is the Patriot Network. It is the largest nation organization of independent tax patriot groups, showing American citizens how to fight tyrannical government and unjust IRS practices.

Dr. and Mrs. Robert B. Clarkson announce their marriage dynamite

Robert Barnwell. Clarkson II, J.D. of Anderson, SC and Donna Faye Guthrie of North Carolina announce their marriage on July 8, 2007 at the Sail Club on Lake Hartwell. The Bride was given in marriage by her son Dale Chadwick Jr. and her son Matthew, was the ring bearer. The Groom's granddaughter, Gabby Hicks, was the maid of honor and Nelson Waller served as best man.

Robert Clarkson is the son of Francis Dargan Clarkson and the late James Heyward Clarkson Jr. Robert graduated from Sumter High School in 1965. He graduated from Clemson University with a BA in Economics in 1969. He served with the 25th Infantry Division as platoon leader in Vietnam 1970-71 and graduated USC Law School with a Juris Doctorate in 1974.

Donna Faye Guthrie is the daughter of Laurie E. Guthrie and the late Sally T. Guthrie of Carteret County North Carolina. She holds an Associate Degree in nursing from Craven College in New Bern, NC.
